The face of Ram Lalla’s idol was revealed ahead of the grand consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. The idol, sculpted by Arun Yogiraj, depicts Lord Ram as a smiling five-year-old child. It is a 51-inch black stone idol placed on a throne in the sanctum

The idol portrays Lord Ram as a five-year-old child standing with a smiling face. Scuplted by the Arun Yogiraj from Mysuru, the 51-inch idol is carved out of black stone.

The 51-inch idol, representing Lord Ram as a child, was sculpted by Mysuru-based artist Arun Yogiraj.

It was placed in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple on Thursday, following its arrival on Wednesday night amidst prayer chants, as per the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust. Anil Mishra, a member of the trust, performed the ‘pradhan sankalp’, signifying the idol’s installation for the welfare of humanity and the nation, and acknowledging those who contributed to the temple’s construction.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend the consecration ceremony, which temple trust general secretary Champat Rai says will begin at 12:20 pm on January 22. The temple is expected to open to the public the following day.

The rituals for the temple consecration started from January 12. On January 22, PM Modi will perform the puja for the “Pran Pratistha’, sources have said. A team of priests led by Lakshmikant Dixit will perform the main rituals of the Pran Prathistha.

** Ahead of his participation in the consecration ceremony of the Ayodhya Ram As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is sleeping on the floor and having only coconut water for the 11-day ‘anusthan’ (special ritual) he is observing ahead of the Pran Pratishtha of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Temple.

** ‘Yam Niyam’ spells out several austere measures, including yoga, meditation and discipline in various aspects, for its practitioners. PM Modi already follows many of these disciplines, including waking up during an auspicious time before sunrise, meditation and consuming ‘satvik’ food, in his daily life, according to the officials. The Prime Minister has also decided to observe a fast with strict penance for the 11 days, said the officials.
